Shrader Analytical & Consulting Laboratories, Inc.

was established in 1971 and moved to its present location at 3814 Vinewood, Detroit in 1978. It was started as a mass spectrometry service laboratory for pharmaceutical, industrial and R&D concerns. Because of demand Shrader expanded into the environmental field in 1980. Today 55% of Shrader's laboratory work is associated with environmental analyses on air, soil, waste and water.

The staff consists of experienced professionals trained in the field of chemistry and environmental chemistry, many of whom have been with the company for over ten years.

Over the years, Shrader has maintained high standards of quality and follows EPA published procedures and EPA QA/QC guidelines. Shrader is known internationally and has done analytical work for numerous foreign concerns. Shrader has been audited by the US EPA and has been selected as the analytical laboratory for several Superfund sites.

Major equipment consists of six mass spectrometers coupled with gas chromatographs, each dedicated to one type of analysis, and one mass spectrometer coupled with a liquid chromatograph. In addition to the mass spectrometers there are two gas chromatographs, 35 computers connected through Novell network, four refrigerators, two ovens, one spectrophotometer, one colorimeter, balances, sonicator, steam baths, TCLP extractors, carbon filtration unit for water, pH meters.

Shrader has been certified by the State of Michigan as a Woman Owned Business and is currently certified by SMART. Shrader is also certified by the City of Detroit as a Detroit Based Business and as a Small Business.
